The Justice Department has ignored House subpoenas for audio of special counsel’s interviews with President Biden.
The House of Representatives voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress on Wednesday. The Justice Department has refused to provide Congress with audio of Special Counsel Hur’s interview with President Biden, which the House subpoenaed.
The DOJ provided a transcript of the interview to House investigators, but the president claimed executive privilege to retain the audio. The special counsel had not recommended prosecution for the president’s mishandling of classified documents, stating that a jury would see him as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.“
House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan of Ohio stated, “I think A, they’ve already waived the privilege, and B, we’re in an impeachment inquiry… and we’re entitled to the best evidence.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Garland and DOJ officials to uphold the law and submit to legislative oversight as prescribed by the U.S. Constitution.
- For discernment for leaders and members of Congress as they pursue impeachment investigations against the president.
